Today we attended our goodbye ceremony with the people of Maji Moto. It was a very moving experience with numerous speeches and performances. Sam and J each read a bilingual thank you statement. The students of Maji Moto Primary School sang several songs and we reciprocated with an acoustic rendition of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.” There was even an extended dance with the local traditional ngoma dance group. And there were snacks! We’re going to miss this place so much. Here’s a sampling of the proceedings.
The village leaders of Maji Moto consecrated the house that we built by roasting a goat inside its walls.
